How are we already half way through April? It's true what they say, the days go slow but the years go fast. Today will surely go by slowly as I was up late watching Netflix. I have been hooked on the show Dirty John. The show is based on the true story of John Meehan. He was a scam artist who manipulated wealthy women. It's insane how much he was able to get away with. I literally watched the show with my jaw open the whole time! Now that I've finished the season, I'm hoping to get a little more sleep. That is until I get into the next show. What are you guys currently binging?
As we reach the middle of the month, I wanted to showcase my five favourite items. Last month, I featured the home/decor category and this month I'm showcasing the beauty category. I'm so excited to share with you all my favourite products as these are the products that I'm using daily and can't live without! Also, my new purse came in today from Shopbop that I am obsessing over. I decided to feature it in my photos below. I will be wearing THIS one all summer long!
This is one of my tried and true holy grail products. I wear it everyday after applying my moisturizer and before applying my foundation. This primer smooths the skin and minimizes pores and imperfections. It also sets the skin for your makeup routine. I have an oily t-zone which is worse in the summer months and this product keeps my foundation on longer and prevents it from moving. It basically feels like a protective shield for my face. I also love it because it has spf 30 in it giving an added layer of sun protection.
Speaking of sun damage, I am religious about applying sunscreen. I have fair skin and tons of moles so applying sunscreen is just a part of my routine. In the spring and summer months, I'm always outside with my daughter, which is when I need sunscreen the most. I love Beautycounter's sunscreen as it's natural and lightweight with hardly any residue! There was a lot of controversy in the media last year regarding the ingredients in sun screens, particularly some of the drug store brands. One of the most harmful ingredients is oxybenzone which is a synthetic estrogen that is absorbed by the skin and can disrupt your hormone system. Countersun does NOT contain this harmful ingredient and includes zinc oxide which protects skin from harmful UVA radiation. Plus it's safe enough to use on my daughter's skin!
I was never blessed with full beautiful eyebrows. What I do have is thin, light and misshaped hairs above my eyes. I can't believe, I used to go out in public without ever filling in my brows! Although it may not seem like it, just filling in the brows can go a long way! It can also completely change your face shape. I found this pencil a few years ago and never looked back. It's super thin, which is great for creating hair like strokes that look so natural. I wear medium brown which is perfect for my complexion. I find some browns can get to taupey or red on my skin tone. It also stays in place all day so I don't have to worry about my brows running away
For every girl who fills in her eyebrows like me this is like the cream to your coffee. Once I pencil in my brows, I brush this gel over top. I like to go the opposite direction in the inner corners to create more of an undone natural look. I find if I just use the pencil, my brows can look a little flat so this gel adds dimension. It's also water resistant and stays put all day long.
Bronzer is something that I just can't live without. I love having a glow even in the cooler months. This bronzer is amazing! It includes three different shades which can be used for contouring. I actually blend all the colours together to contour the sides of my face and place the medium tone on my lids as eye shadow. It's great when you're on the go and it's compact so you can throw it in your purse. I am using the natural shade.
